News from the Outer Rim - An update from the Planet of ME

Haven’t posted anything here in a while. Still sortin’ through the comments, trying to figure out how to write things up, I don’t want to give away anyone identify by mistake after all.

So I figured I give an update on the wonderful (I think I’m gonna hurl) Planet of ME. The inept staff at the Planet have decided that they don’t want the unwashed masses to see what passed for intelligent (there goes my stomach again) conversation in their Lounge. So they’ve locked it now. You have to be a member and logged into to seem that the Kindergarten for the internet is averaging about one new thread a day, and around 80 new posts. Don’t look to the Disney related thread to be much better, traffic there is significantly higher, and the quality help provided to Disney Noobs has seriously declined recently, with many answers taking on a condescending aire from the Planet’s resident masters. They also probably don’t want you to know that they average about 6 new members a day, and those are mostly sock puppets of other members trying to boost the membership rolls, or patrons banned for disagreeing with the queen.

I do get some enjoyment out for needle these people, but not so much that I’m going to waste a lot of time doing it, so this is only off the first page from last night, and only those that had comment posted yesterday. That in itself, I find interesting. In a site that boast over 23,000 members, there were a mere 15 that had current posts yesterday evening. Yeah there are a lot of people paying close attention to the happenings at the Planet. So want amazing content is being secreted behind this mystically locked door? There are two politic threads. I know that because sometime back the moderators (and I use that term loosely because the only moderator worth anything left long ago) decided that they needed to warning members about political threads. As you see, many at the Planet cannot handle the repartee that goes on in political discussions, or hearing their friend complain about being attacked because someone else doesn’t concur with their narrow-minded ill formed opinions, so they complain to the moderators that people aren’t playing nice. Let’s see, we have the ever present, coffee club thread, at almost always resides near the top of the list until it reaches the maximum count and then a new one is started. There are the food threads, started by the resident food snob or those with their noses sniffing her behind. There is one new food thread the caught my eye because in the very evidence desire one up others and prove their intelligence, only service to prove they know how to use a thesaurus, and a old one at that. The resident know-it-all has a couple of thread to vent and be amused with, and usually find someone whom can be berated. And finally a few threads authored by the resident troll, who is always impressed with how smart he/she thinks he/she is and trying to show it. The troll is always looks for the opportunity to throw a barb at liberal members to start a fight so he can then use whatever insult he can, knowing that the queen will always step in and protect her troll and find some way the blame and chastise his target. But hey, that’s life on the Planet.

I am actually a bit impressed that this forum generates on average a little more than 80 posts a day given the content. But, I not surprised to see that the average post and thread numbers have been declining for some time. I probably wouldn’t care all that much, except that I am concerned about the individuals who come away with a bad impression of Disney because of this place. But then, I hold hope that having some many members and some few posts is an indication that most people see through the nonsense and quickly move on better options.

Well that enough for my indulgence, now back to my Disney history research.
